OREGONIAN: Oregon baseball cruises past Portland

By  James Crepea | The Oregonian/OregonLive Oregon baseball scored early and often and capitalized on poor command from Portland’s pitchers to pick up a midweek win. Seven pitchers combined to allow just three hits for the No. 15 Ducks in a 10-1 win over the Pilots Tuesday at PK Park. RJ Gordon struck out for over two innings and gave up just one hit in his first career start. Christian Ciuffetelli allowed one run on a hit and two walks over one inning and was followed by Decker Stedman (two innings, two walks), Rio Britton, Scott Ellis, Hunter Breault (one hit) and Isaac Ayon out of the bullpen. They combined for nine strikeouts to just one hit and two walks over six scoreless innings. Oregon (11-4) scored in the first, second, third and fourth innings to take a commanding lead. Daniel  Friis   Mar  23, 2021   No. 13 Oregon takes advantage of sloppy Portland defense en route to 10-1 victory Oregon defeated the Portland Pilots 10-1 on Tuesday afternoon in Eugene to improve to 11-4 on the season.  RJ Gordon got the start for the Ducks on the mound. He made quick work of the Pilots in the first, sending down the side in order in just ten pitches. For the Pilots, Jack Folkins toed the rubber to mark his first ever collegiate appearance. In just his second pitch, Tanner Smith launched a home run off the right field roof to give Oregon an early 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the second, the Pilots shot themselves in the foot on multiple occasions. Robby Ashford led off the inning by reaching on an error as the two-sport athlete immediately stole second.
