How about Mark Wasikowski’s Oregon Ducks?

Last weekend, the Ducks went on the road and did a clean sweep of UC Santa Barbara. And even after the weekend showing against the Gauchos, Waz was not shy about his team’s lack of ranking in the D1Baseball Top 25. He didn’t think they’d earned it … yet. They still had plenty to prove.

Well, the Ducks made a bold statement in the series opener against arch nemesis Oregon State, shutting out the Beavers 7-0 and leaving no doubt from the fourth inning on. UO lefthanded pitcher Robert Ahlstrom struck out 10, didn’t walk anyone and allowed three hits in seven innings, while at the plate, the Ducks touched up OSU righty Kevin Abel for five runs on six hits in 4.1 innings. Kenyon Yovan had a mammoth home run in the game, while Tanner Smith had a triple, two hits and four RBIs.

The Ducks, who have now won five-straight games, have our attention. o attention.

12/22/2020 "Eugene, Ore. – Oregon designated hitter Kenyon Yovan has been named a first-team preseason All-America pick by Collegiate Baseball. Last season, Yovan earned Collegiate Baseball first-team postseason honors as a designated hitter after leading Oregon in hitting (.429), hits (24), home runs (4), runs scored (22) and walks (15). He also topped the team in on-base percentage (.556) and slugging percentage (.714), while finishing with nine RBI, two doubles and a triple. Yovan finished the season with six multi-hit games including five 3-hit games. In the Pac-12 Conference, he finished in the top three in seven offensive categories while ranking in the top six in two more. Yovan was second in the league in slugging percentage and runs scored, third in batting average, OBP, hits, home runs (tied) and total bases and sixth in the conference in walks and hit by pitches.
